The "Honeymoon", Part 2

On the rocks...

...in various combinations...

...at Pemaquid Light.

The pirate theme continues.

Both Jessie and her mother haunted this place as children, stocking up on what, due to inflation, is now "charmingly" referred to as "penny" candy.

Only you can't start a forest fire.

Le Place Du Kip.

Nobody wears a cushion on his head like my brother.

There was even foul weather for the last day, to make it easier to leave.

The "Honeymoon", Part 1

Given the time-and-space bending qualities of this blog, here's a look at our post-wedding trip. We hesitate to call it a "honeymoon" as a) we went with my brother and his family and b) like the sensible Maine residents we are we are waiting for the weather to turn nasty again in the Pine Tree State before we squander our hard-earned dough on a warm climate vacation.

We went to the Pemaquid Peninsula; the site of many happy memories from Jessie's childhood as well as the occasional dating trip. Enjoy:

"Sea Change"- your very own million dollar home for a week

Jess and Emily take in the view

Niece Emily the ham

Em and Di

It wouldn't be a Bookham boys trip without at least one fort

Shaw's Wharf got more hype prior to arrival than Brangelina's baby

The ladies

Happy as a clam indeed

Nice view, eh?

Part 2 soon.

Photos from the Rehearsal

We are jumping about chronologically on the Newly Wed blog, but seeing as we didn't find any time to post during the wedding run up and aftermath I thought it would be ok to back fill a little, just in order to keep a full historical record. Therefore, here's the rehearsal at The Jordan Pond House from Saturday, May 27:

Not sure if we are here to do the door or to practice the ceremony: the best man and the groom loom ominously for the camera. You will notice that I have the ability to make the finest tailored clothes look ill-fitting...

The benefits of having an expert in the family: the Reverend Mike has Milja pre-sign the marriage licence so that it doesn't get lost in the post-wedding shuffle.

Everyone hits their mark.

I remember this more than the actual ceremony: all I would see the next day when we did this for real were Jessie's beautiful eyes.

The bridal party (complete with practice bouquet) looks on...

...While the J-Man digs into the veggie booty.

"OK, you first, then you follow.." "Me?" "Yeah, you, then her..."

Dan and Jessie practice walking.

American ladies contemplate popovers while English lads get stuck into the grub in the background.

Unsung wedding hero Colin and Dan display their summer glows. In the large and sordid library of terrible photos of me, this one must rank near the top. Colin looks nice though.

Kind Folks Online

There were lots of kind folks off-line too; the silver polishing wonder women of ol' Bar Harbor

While we wait for the wedding photos, other chums who we ran with during the wedding/post-wedding euphoric cloud era have been busy posting stuff on their blogs and websites. I'd like to take the opportunity to share them with you; I recommend checking them out:

Mondale on coming to Maine, the wedding, and afterwards.

Listmaker on Maine and the wedding ceremony, and the reception.

Youthlarge on food: McKays, Cafe This Way, the reception, and lobster.

Joe on the Sea Dogs baseball meet-up.

And finally, Bill Norris spares me.

Mr. and Ms. Continue Their Lives

We are home and back to our "normal" schedules. I battled my first real bought of PPD (Post Party Depression) today at work. I had such an amazing time! The weather was perfect, the company superb, and the love was all around. Thank you to everyone who came and spent time with us throughout the fesitivities.
You'll have to indulge us over the next couple of weeks as we're sure to recap all the wonderful and entertaining details in this space. We'll post the pictures as they roll in.

The woman in the Parrot is my cousin Matt's amazing wife Jill. She wins the good sport award for sure!! Once the parrot head was off and taken up in small arms the rules changed. It was open season on any kid wearing the head. I was witness to two muggings and am sure there were more.

The treasure hunt was so much fun and the kids were hilarious. I loved seeing the four year old Quincy march by in an eye patch and bandana, waving a flag and yelling, "I've got a mustache! I've got a mustache!" Priceless.

We Are Married

Jessie/Daniel, I take you to be my wife/husband,
To laugh with you in joy,
To grieve with you in sorrow,
To grow with you in love,
Working together for peace and justice,
As long as we both shall live.
