Shipping Up to Boston

Scout hits the Hub for the first time, with particular interest in marine life at the New England Aquarium:

So here we are, new hat at the Long Wharf...

Harbor seals: more guarded in our response than dad expected

Jelly fish, though: mad for 'em, like her mother.

It took a while, but I was able to convince Scout that the first window we came to wasn't the only one in the whole aquarium.

Once that was cleared up, it was off on a self-guided tour

"Penguins? Why has nobody introduced the concept of penguins to me before???"

Awaiting James Cameron's casting call

"How do I get in there?"

Too absorbed by sharks and turtles to pay any attention dad dangling the camera over the edge of the tank

"Flippin' 'eck!"

Scout ponders slipping a heavy bronze turtle into the diaper bag as a memento

The face of a happy fruit leather eater after a fine introduction to marine biology (please note that Scout insisted that she put on her special eating hat)

Then after a late lunch at Wagamama (Scout digs pan fried udon noodles in any form) it was time to pay tribute to Red Auerbach, then back to North Station.

  • So happy you're working toward your Wagamama quota- I hear it's insatiable, but keep up the good work!

  • If the three of us could live inside its clean, white, modernist walls we would.
