A Busy Few Weeks

Summer in Maine and it is a busy time for us all. Please excuse our recent absence from these pages. In the past few weeks Scout:

Had a nap.

Wore a bucket for a hat.

Celebrated Dan/Dad's birthday. 35, the panini birthday. Hooray!

Was adored at church.

Watched Grampie Mike cut his retirement cake - then saw Mama eat TWO pieces!

Became restless in the church pews (haven't we all at some point?)

Took a load off in the book box.

Off to MDI to celebrate the 3rd and 4th!

Playoff Edition

Celtics fever has even gripped Scout despite her lack of comprehension of team sports, action and consequence, and the regional rivalries of the United States. Witness:

Drives to the basket like Ray Allen, shoots like Woody Allen. Also, pleae note the Jordan tongue in the second photo and the Paul Pierce chest-grab look at my team's uniform move in the last picture.

Humidity Maketh The One Year Old Loopy

We have been enjoying a mini heatwave up here in Maine, and we don't ever seem to get the dry heat in the north east. Its been damp and muggy and we are learning that in conjuction with turning one, humidity turns our little fine haired baby into a curly, crazy toddler. Witness:

I am Zagnut from the Planet Spinach Lips

I can out-stare this futon thanks to frizzy power!

My protective goggles allow me to draft the dog in the canine fart cone

Spare any change?

Look: I can poop and read at the same time, thanks to frizzy power!

TOO HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look everybody: my John Lydon impersonation

Ahh, the soothing power of underpants.

Next: when Scout channels MJ...

Hooray For Med School Mama!

You are a super egg and we are so proud of all your amazing accomplishments. Congratulations on finishing med-school. We know you'll be an amazing doctor, helping families wind their way through the crazy world of medicine, illness, and health. Big hugs and bigger "Hoorays!"

Song of the second twelve months...

Jessie has us both wistfully addicted to this Loudon Wainwright III song:

'Daughter', Loudon Wainwright III

I don't do much parental sap, but this is perfect (and in my defence at least it isn't James Taylor)....

Birthday Baby!

Scout turned O-N-E on Sunday. Wow. What a truly amazing year it has been. For one year we've been parents to a lovely, lovely baby girl. Her birthday feels huge - way better then any of our own. We celebrated in BH with friends and family. It was a beautiful day to celebrate the amazing experience of seeing our child through the first year of their life. (Sorry for being so sappy but it seems appropriate for such an occasion.)

Scout opens pressies...

with vigor!

What a bunch! I could eat them all up.

So... she's not a baby anymore. Instead, she's a funny little daring toddler and we couldn't be happier!
Happy Birthday Sprout!

From Across the Pond

For the past 10 days, Scout's Nan and Granddad have been visiting from England. It was great to have them around and Scout enjoyed their company! Here are a few pictures to prove that point.

Swing Away! with G.D. Mark

I see you!

A one year old, a nan, and a pensive look.

Until next time... love you!
